Introduction

Facing History and Ourselves is a half semester course that consists of a variety of videos, and documentations regarding different situations involving discrimination. Although this course is only half a year, I guarantee it will be the most impacting of them all. This course reveals truth, hardships, and experiences that are only known by the people who lived through it themselves. Literally putting yourself in the victim’s shoes to see what they have seen is this course’s goal. I was well aware what I was getting myself into when choosing this class as an elective and I still don’t regret it. Being able to learn and see what actually happened to human beings in the past is why I took this course. I took this course, because I have a burning passion to exterminate all types of discrimination and bullying in this corrupt world. I took this class, because I am fascinated with the fact that people could look another living human being in the eye who are exactly like them, and think they are superior better than the other. We are all equal; we all are living the same life. There may be different types of lifestyles, beliefs, and ethnicities, but in my eyes it comes down to us all having one heart and one planet to live on. My Family background is very widespread by race, sexual preference, and mental stability. Despite these differences we are brought together by one word, Family. This word plays a role every day for all humans, some just don’t realize that the family line doesn’t stop at blood.
